Le Canonnier affords a fresh new look where guests can enjoy a host of fully revamped accommodations, thanks to the major renovation it recently went through.  Situated on the Northern Coast of the gorgeous country, Mauritius, Le Canonnier offers a dramatic view on the Cannon Point with an ancient lighthouse, fortress ruins, and age-old cannons.  This mixture of the old and the new makes the hotel and excellent value for your money.

 

The refitting of the main restaurant and landscaping of the gardens are just some of the enhancements made.  With all the upgrades, the hotel retains its historical value.

 

The 248 rooms are a sight to see with their colourful decorations.  All the rooms also boast of modern facilities.  Each room has twin beds (2x2 in Family Duplex), your own shower and toilet (a bathtub is available for Superior rooms), individually controlled air-conditioning, international direct dialling telephone, hair dryer, radio, television with DVD channel, minibar, and your own safe to store your valuables. 

 

When Scarlett O’Hara said in Gone with the Wind that she‘d never go hungry again, she must have meant she will stay here because Le Canonnier offers a huge selection of restaurants and bars in the compound. 

 

The main restaurant, Le Frangipanier, sits next to the second pool.  Le Kiosque, which borders the two pools with its thatched roofs, has a more intimate and welcoming setting, perfect for that cosy dinner-for-two romantic evening.  The Le Planters bar offers a cool ambience right in the middle of the gardens.  However, if you cannot get enough of the sea, Le Navigator is the place for you.  The restaurant is overlooking the beach and is giving you a stunning view of the Indian Ocean and the northern islands while you share an intimate meal with your loved one.  You can take in the view over the ocean the whole day as the restaurant opens at 10:30 a.m. and stays open until the discotheque is closed.

 

There is a wide range of free land water activities to choose from.  Tennis, table tennis, volleyball, bocciball, archery, water skiing, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, glass bottom boat rides, and an aqua gym just to name a few.  You can also enjoy biking, American pool, deep-sea fishing, and scuba diving for a minimal fee.  If you want to keep fit and trim, you can do stretching and yoga exercises and avail of the massage and hairdressing facilities.  Try the gym and wellness centre at the nearby Le Mauricia Hotel.  It’s awesome!

A miniclub is available for the young.  It is open every day for children between three and twelve years old.  A babysitter service is also on hand so that you can enjoy the day without worrying about your little ones.  Conference facilities and a business centre make Le Canonnier ideal for business functions.

 

Just a short distance from the lively tourist town of Grande Baie, with its abundance of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and shops, Le Canonnier is a complete resort hotel.  The hotel does not give you any reason to leave, except to explore the beautiful island of Mauritius.
